Log book 3 week old in Corsica

by Guillaume Durand

First week in Porto-Vecchio

Sunday September 4:
- the range of Palombaggia: beautiful sand beach white, one of most known in the south… but not so extraordinary that… There is of much more beautiful according to me like that of Saleccia for example (in north). This range is to be prevented if you do not support crowd and in more the carpark is paying (3€/jour).

- the Point of Chiappa: superb panorama on the gulf of Porto-Vecchio (to be made while re-entering of the range of Palombaggia).

Monday September 5:
- needles of Bavella: 9 kms in the north of Zonza, a stop with the collar of Bavella (you will not be able to miss the statue of Our-Lady-of-Snows) makes it possible to admire these famous needles. That is worth the turning, the panorama is really seizing!!!

- “hole of the bomb strolls”: small strolls quiet and marked out well but not terrible. It makes it possible to discover this hole 8 meters in diameter at the top of a rock… To the return, possibility of making a loop while following the direction of Alturaghja: beautiful sight on the needles of Bavella.

- the cascade Piscia di Gallo: this strolls is really brilliant!!! On the other hand, the path is not marked out to the foot of the cascade and that goes down dry on arrival… are thus super careful… but trotts it does not have really interest according to me if one does not go until in bottom… for better appreciating the height of the cascade! For those which fear the return and which are afraid not to succeed in climbing, there are nevertheless many points of bathe throughout strolls.

Tuesday September 6:
http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright - bonifacio: a visit impossible to circumvent!!! All is beautiful in the old city. The excursion in boat for the marine cliffs, creeks and caves is worth the blow frankly!!! But the signal, it is the course Pertusato and more exactly the range than there is right under the headlight… with a few meters of the rock of the “submarine”. Fortunately that Bonifacien advised us to go down, if not one would have followed the tourist path and of the blow missed the true spectacle. Time was not terrible as you will be able to note it on the photographs… damage…
Even in September, there is enormously world and it is very difficult to be parked (all the carparks are paying in more…) but that is worth the turning.

- the Hermitage of the Trinity: the site is splendid and the sight on Bonifacio is well released.

- the range of Rondinara: while returning of Bonifacio, one decides to go to make a splash but there still, the carpark is paying… direction the swimming pool of the camp-site; -)

Wednesday September 7:
- the castellu of Arraggio: it is one strolls rather short but nevertheless sporting because the rise is very stiff and when the sun knocks in more… In less than 1/2 hour, one arrives at a prehistoric complex preserved very well at 245m above the gulf of Porto-Vecchio. Superb panoramic sight on the northern coast of Porto-Vecchio.

- the natural swimming pool of Zoza: to the output of the village, a path goes down to the river. One finds there on a side a cascade and other the natural swimming pool of Zoza. Sympathetic to change range…

- sources of Caldane: 3.50€ for 20 minutes of bath in a sulfurous water with 37°C. One went there in end of the afternoon, after being oneself bathed in Zoza: it is very releasing and in more the greeting is really sympathetic!

Thursday September 8: rain

Friday September 9:

http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright - the path of Bruzzi (between Bonifacio and Roccapina): this strolls belongs to the my preferred… landscape approaches that of Lavezzi but it much more wild and is less attended. There are approximately 4 kms of functioning in the maquis and in full sun but I really appreciated this strolls!!!

- the tower génoise of Campomoro: small strolls sympathetic carpark of the range to the tower génoise of Campomoro. One reaches it after 30 minutes of functioning by a punctuated path of explanatory panels. This tower is in perfect state and it is most imposing of Corsica (it appears). Node of the tower, fantastic sight on the gulf of Valinco and the wild coast. Possibility of bathing on the beautiful sand beach end of Campomoro or in wild splits.

Saturday September 10:
- Lavezzi: it is paradisiac but so attended… the amateurs of beautiful http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright ranges and diving will regale themselves. For the hikers, that the occasion to perhaps rest one day on a range of dream. The excursion includes/understands a halt in Lavezzi, a passage in front of the marine of Cavallo and a visit of the caves of Bonifacio. It is expensive (25€) but is to be made without hesitating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second week with Porticcio

Sunday September 11:
- the point of Parata: to some kms of Ajaccio, the amateurs of sunset will adore: do not forget your camera. Climb to the tower of Parata, it is easy and feasible in 10 minutes. From there, you will have seen on the sanguinary islands which take reddish reflections with laying down sun. On the other hand, there is no badly world… but the carpark is free; -) It is a superb spectacle, not to miss!!!

Monday September 12:
http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright - Incudine: 7 hours of functioning to reach the node (2134m) because all the panels were torn off!!! If not, the excursion is feasible in 5:30. At the node, an extraordinary panorama on all the south of Corsican and even on the sea. Really brilliant but as the beaconing is quasi non-existent, I disadvise nevertheless this strolls: true a galère… unless being well justified…

Tuesday September 13:
- the cascade of the English: BOF… this strolls did not really mark me. You do not wait to see a superb cascade (or then it was loupée). The path skirts a succession of all small water falls which dug swimming pools in the rock and where one can bathe. It is same style as the natural swimming pools of Zoza… in less better according to me but if you pass in the corner, make a fast tower…

- the procession of Scala di Santa Regina: if you pass on the side of Corte, will admire this rock procession. The road, taken out of vice by immense mountains by place is cut in the rock: IMPRESSING.http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright

- creeks of Piana and the gulf of Oporto: D81 crosses the creeks on 2 kms with excellent points of view on these famous red granite cliffs and on the gulf of Oporto. It is really splendid, particularly with the sunset. That deserves the turning absolutely: the site is exceptional!!!

Wednesday September 14:
- Capo Rosso: one of my strolls preferred (lasted = 3:30 AR). An excursion impossible to circumvent for which has a little time… and of energy. One suffered because the weather was super nice and the sun knocked already with 10:00! But once arrived at the node, it any more but did not remain to climb all in top of the Turghiu tower and a panorama on the coast until Cargèse and the gulf of Girolata of a beauty to cut you the breath!!!

- the natural reserve of Scandola: registered with the world heritage by UNESCO. The richness of its fauna and its flora really exceptional… and is very protected. Here, it is strictly interdict to go, fish, plunge, gather plants. The site is contemplated only by boat and trotts at sea it is really not given: 26€. The boat approaches very close to the coasts so that one can benefit from all geological curiosities: shredded cliffs, organ of volcanic stone reversed… Side animals, it would to be published there it sinning ospreys, the largest bat of Europe, the seagull of Audouin, the crested cormorant and quantity of other http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright birds which we did not have the chance to admire during the output… blow strolls it is a little monotonous and at the end of one hour, one starts to be bored a little… and trotts it lasts 3:30 on the whole!!! With the return, stop of 30min at the village of Girolata. Nothing in particular in this village put aside which it is insulated since one can go there only by one pedestrian path (no road carries out to it)… or by the sea… and there, some salesmen who must work only the summer await you in their huts out of wooden on the range to sell tee-shirts to you and full with other memories: it is the trap with tourists!!!
In short, I was really disappointed by this output at sea for several reasons. Already, the price is deceived a little it seems to me. And then, trotts it is tedious: to contemplate such beautiful rocks they is during 3:00, it is long. And to crown the whole, one stops in this famous village of Girolata which is not of great interest separately to perhaps make us still spend a few euros…

Thursday September 15:
- “strong castle strolls”: small strolls pleasant one hour, the path begins on the right from the head of dog. As long as you are on Piana or Oporto, this strolls is to be made: at the end of the path a sight on the gulfs of Oporto and Girolata.

- cascades of Aitone: eh yes… still of the cascades… One can also see the ruins of a mill and between two beautiful water falls, of the natural swimming pools. Ideal for those which decided to make quick dip between 2 excursions. Road, one reaches the cascades in 10 minutes.

Friday September 16:
- the Lake Nino: BRILLIANT!!! WITH NOT MISSING!!! Strolls is frankly not obvious and it is to better be well fitted (lasted = 5AR). Arrived in top, it is really sublime. With the difference of the other Nino, altitude Lakes (Mello and Capitello) with the characteristic to occupy a very open site. One discovers there also the pozzines, of the parcelled out lawns of water holes. One sees even horses “wild” but so accustomed to see tourists that one approaches some easily… TO MAKE!!!

- cascades of Radule: if there remain to you still forces after strolls with the Lake Nino, a beautiful excursion (easy moreover) awaits you some kms from there. This share in the turn out of pin of the “horseshoe strolls”. A path which does to a loop leads you to the sheep-folds of Radule. From there, one goes down to the cascades from Radule. Count approximately 2:00 of functioning…

- the range of Sagone: while returning to the camp-site, one stops with the range of Sagone located at the edge of the road to make a small portion of beach-tennis… new sport which I invented with my brother… and who is played on a ground of beach-volleyball. After 7:00 of functioning, one deserved a ptite pause well; -)

Saturday September 17: rain

Sunday September 18:
departure for Saint-Florent under the rain. Small turning to see the cascade of the wedding veil. She is immense but that misses a little water all that… carpark, there is a little less than 10 minutes of functioning.

Third week with Saint-Florent

Monday September 19: rain

Tuesday September 20:
http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright - the Corsica Cape: time is still very cloudy but one starts to have some to remain locked up enough. Blow, one decides to go to be made 2 stroll quiet in the Corsica Cape. In Macinaggio, the coastguard path makes it possible to join the vault Santa-Maria and the tower Santa-Maria di has chjapella (always feet in water but with destroyed half) in one hour of functioning it seems to me In any case…, it does not have there no difficulty in this strolls which is really super pleasant because there is possibility of bathing on the 3/4 of the really sympathetic course……

- Barcaggio has: the point of the Corsica Cape, the small one strolls which leads to the tower of Agnello is not formidable. Moreover, posidonies (which are watery plants) pile up on the range and that which been able. Ca really does not give desire for bathing… Is the range perhaps cleaned in July and August to accomodate all the tourists.? While returning to Saint-Florent, one passes by the west coast of the Corsica Cape to make a loop but as it rains, one does not benefit from it really.

Wednesday September 21:
- Capitello and Mello Lakes: one strolls really imposing even if the path which leads to the lakes is attended much (even in September!!!). The lakes are nested between high rock faces: quite simply SPLENDID. Envisage warm clothing because in Capitello, that curdles…

- theRusset-red one: a very tourist city but it made there all the same good things in life. The place Paoli, heart of the city is a beautiful place rectangular, shaded by large plane trees and bordered of coffees: it is the place more animated city where the players of game of bowls like to find themselves. The old city with its streets laid out in checkerwork deserves it also the turning. Connected to the city by a pier which shelters the marina, the peninsula of Pietra offers one from the best points of view on the close small islands, the port, theRusset-red one and the hills balagnaises. To have the best point of view, go up to the headlight of Pietra!

http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright - Calvi: another tourist station still… the district of the citadel at the end of the city, perched on its rock is really sympathetic: panoramic sight on bay, the city and the neighbourhoods.

- Our-Lady-of-the-Tightened: in the heights of Calvi (with 6kms in south-west), this vault offers a panorama of postcard on Calvi and the mountains of Balagne.

Thursday September 22:
- the desert of Agriates: day range… Departure the morning of Saint-Florent where a shuttle brings us to the range of Lodo. In one hour with foot, one joined the range of Saleccia. Long of 1Km, a transparent water with the colors of a tropical lagoon (a range of blue), fine sand, the range of Saleccia is a small paradise: my range preferred in Corsica!!!

Friday September 23:
- the Corsica Cape: for our last day in Corsica, one decides to remake the turn of the Cape… under the sun this time; -) To start, one stops at Erbalunga, charming small village built at the edge of water with 9 kms of Bastia. On the road, an alternation of ranges and splits wild, really splendid landscapes. One passes then to Rogliano, perched in a hill and which dominates the coast right before arriving at the collar of Tightened. A small walk http://vacances.en.corse.chez-alice.fr copyright to the Mattei mill, fabulous panorama from where one dominates Centuri port and the island of Giraglia. We continue to descend the Cape west coast and all is really wild and so beautiful… except this factory closed down in seaside with Canari, which comes to rot the landscape. One passes then in front of the asbestos ranges of Albo and Nonza (that made really odd) before arriving at Nonza and there still, one falls under the charm from this village fixed on a cliff and which overhangs the sea.

Saturday September 24: return to Toulouse

Large a thank you with Samuel for his participation.
